Introducing Heart Analyzer Version 11

Today, after nearly ten years of Heart Analyzer I’m delighted to reveal what’s new this year. The user base for this app is fantastic and for this update I’ve received great feedback that’s contributed to the direction of many new features. There’s a lot that’s new I’ll try to keep things concise!

Major Updates

Breathing Disturbance Support

Track this new metric and gain insight not just into Sleep Apnea but also key lifestyle factors such as exercise, alcohol and medication contributing to trend changes.

This is a headline feature of the latest Apple Watch models including Series 9, Ultra 2 and newer. Heart Analyzer lets you monitor this metric over time and Data Plus users can adjust the timescale of trend calculations bringing you unique insights.

Multi-Data Sleep Charts

A brand new way to review your Sleep including Sleep Stage support and aligned tracking of Respiratory Rate, Blood Oxygen and of course, Heart Rate!

We’ve said it before, this fantastic data recorded by Apple Watch is in the Apple Health app. But now you can view all these vital metrics in line, and with just a swipe, scan through the night identifying each reading and the time they were recorded.

Advanced HRV Improvements Including rMSSD Support

Analytics Plus users can now track the popular metric HRV rMSSD (Root Mean Square of the Successive Differences). This methodology gives better tracking of readiness and recovery, there’s also long term analytics with rolling averages and coefficient variation along with Apple Watch app support for rMSSD.

This metric is a big deal for athletes and people training towards their next big event. With support for various trend algorithms you can gain insight into how exercise, lifestyle, alcohol and illness are all affecting your body and Health.

Dashboard Upgrades

The Heart Analyzer Dashboard was hugely popular when it introduced a new design in version 10. Today it leaps forward with time zone support, a new HRV card, Heart Rate Trend improvements and updated charts.

A core design requirement for the Dashboard has been being able to get information fast and compare days with a swipe. Now with extra data available in this format Heart Analyzer is more powerful than before. It will now identify days of Heart Rate data recorded in different time zones and notify you when trend data may be altered because of this.

Also in Version 11

  • New detailed charts for your daily Heart Rate and Workouts with a refined design and data selection support

  • Introducing Bookmarks - Log days of interest and navigate back to them quickly

  • Custom Insight Trends - View various Health data across a selection of timescales and analyze trends

  • A new trove Analytics Plus features beyond HRV including data by time of day charts for SPO2 and Custom Heart Rate Zones, new Cardio Recovery metrics with Workout filtering and refined charts throughout

  • New features on Apple Watch for viewing all Heart Rate data from the past week with charts you can magnify via the Digital Crown

  • Support for all the latest features in iOS 18 and WatchOS 11 such as tinted app icons & widgets, Activity Rings pausing and more

  • Support for older devices including those on iOS 15 and WatchOS 8 - In future updates we anticipate requiring iOS 17 and WatchOS 10

As with previous major updates, I’d like to give a massive thank you to all the Heart Analyzer beta testers. Updates like this wouldn’t be possible without users volunteering to take the time to download and try out new app releases. Providing feedback is hugely valuable to the entire development process and it’s what makes this update our best ever.

I hope you enjoy this update, please remember to share it and leave a review on the App Store if you get chance.
