The Beginning for Heart Analyzer V10
It’s so exciting to finally be able to share all the new features and improvements developed for Heart Analyzer. It’s been 18 months since version 9 of the app launched to a tremendous reception. At the time it seemed like, how could the app ever offer more?
However, there is always scope for new improvements and inspiration for version 10 started growing. I wanted to enhance the features offered in the Watch app and make the iPhone app more intuitive and accessible for all.
Fast forward to June 2022 and WWDC (The Apple World Wide Developer Conference). Every year here alongside the new iOS & WatchOS releases announced there are also new frameworks. This year included a biggie, Swift Charts.
Up to now, Heart Analyzer has relied mostly on custom charts made to display Heart Rate summaries on your wrist, graph your recent heart rate in a complication and so much more. These charts were ground breaking at the time, but Swift Charts allows me to modernise the app with ever more precise and readable charts. Plus, they look really good. So, for users running iOS 16 and WatchOS 9 or newer*, you really will get an amazing new experience with the App.
Armed with the new Swift Charts library, development begun. Following the successful release of Health Hive V2, focus has shifted and directed on Heart Analyzer. Across the app I’ve implemented new charts, added new features and overall improved performance.
The Dashboard on the iPhone app has been totally redesigned with a new intuitive swipe system letting you move between days with ease. You can get a summary anytime of your recent Heart Rate, Heart Rate Variability (HRV), Blood Oxygen Saturation, Respiratory Rate, Workouts and so much more.
Complications on the Apple Watch have never been so clear or looked so good by taking advantage of the power of Swift Charts. The recent Heart Rate complication has been refreshed as have the weekly Blood Oxygen Saturation and HRV trackers. On the subject of HRV, we’ve really gone a step further here - Heart Analyzer now offers a new Recent HRV chart which works perfectly in conjunction with the new Apple Health AF History feature. Heart Analyzer can help you track your linked HRV so much better to help assess periods when your heart is running in AF.
There’s so much more I’ve not even begun to mention. Deep Analytics redesign, refreshed Heart Reports, new Watch App Charts, new Widgets, Heart Health Insights, the list goes on…
You can test Version 10 of the App today with TestFlight! If you’re interested, please sign up here. All feedback is very welcome and greatly appreciated.
* Don’t worry if you’re still on iOS 15 or WatchOS 8, support has still been maintained! Its just the new charts you’ll miss out on for now.
Note: Apple has now allowed developers to individually price Apps by region, so Heart Analyzer’s three Premium features will all be totally free in Ukraine. Incredibly minor I know, but hopefully it helps someone somewhere.
